Aussie silver lunars

Ive made the decision to complete my 2 ounce AG Lunar series and wanted to know if there were any key dates that I should be looking out for.

So far Ive got a 1999 Rabbit and a 2006 Dog and suggestions on which one should be my next?

Remember these are the 2 ouncers

Dragons and Horses are the most popular, and therefore hardest to get. However, the Perth Mint is still making them, as there's no mintage cap on the 2 oz like there is on the 1/2 and 1 oz silver coins. Personally, I prefer the 1 ouncers.

Thanks for the info.

Im happy to hear that the 2 ouncers are easier to get. I like to bust out those big coins when I show family members I havent seen in a while.

I love the lunar coins and have completed my 1 oz and 2 oz silver sets. I also have a few misc. extras of each size. I'm born in the year of the horse so I have a separate 1/2, 1 and 2 oz silver set of the horse coins and just bought a 1/4 oz. gold horse coin. I bought many of these coins including my 1/4 oz gold horse from Jennifer. I'm excited to see my cute gold horse coin (that's for you Jennifer  )

I was at a coin show 2 weeks ago and only 2 dealers had lunar coins. One dealer had lots of the silver coins and wanted $14 for 1/2 oz., $22 for 1 oz. and $38 for 2 oz. coins. They were in the plastic sleeves from the mint (I think there are 5-6 coins per sleeve) and I could tell he had sold quite a few since many of the sleeves were almost empty. I said :Sorry: NO SALE to those prices. I found only one dealer with gold lunars but only in 1/10 and 1/20 oz sizes, so I bought the 1/10 oz. tiger, monkey and snake for $70 each. He also had the rooster and goat and I think if he still has those at the show this Sunday, I'll grab those. I never planned on making a gold set but the 1/10 oz. coins seems fairly priced at $70 (no shipping of course) so what the heck.

Although the 2 oz. silver coins have unlimited production at this time, I don't think the Perth Mint will make these forever. When the set is complete, I do think these will hold value or increase with time. Right now, there seems to be alot of interest and demand for these coins. They are just such nice coins and add a nice variety to any coin collection.

A BIG THANKS to Jennifer for helping me complete my lunar sets at really great prices.

LoL, I know exactly which dealer you're talking about. Hes always expensive, and he never drops his prices to reflect the market. The Hollywood show is this weekend, Ill have to poke around to see whats up.

I think the Australian Lunars are the best silver coins ever, beating the Pandas hands down. On seeing the 2007 Pig today I was disappointed; it falls off the standard of the other coins, I think. Maybe it will be better in person.

Uggggg, that pig is ugly

They could have used a cool looking razorback as the boar instead of that boring domesticated pig..
